Cat Dental Care

Just like people, cats get build up of plaque and tartar on their teeth. It is important to brush their teeth and schedule regular dental cleanings with your veterinarian as needed.

What is involved in a dental cleaning procedure?

In order to properly clean your cat’s teeth, your cat will need to be put under general anesthesia. During the procedure, a thorough exam of the mouth will be done to check for broken teeth and gum recession. All of their teeth will be polished and full mouth radiographs will be taken to ensure the roots that cannot be seen are healthy.

What are the signs of dental problems in cats?

Irregular bowel movements, drooling, weight loss, and foul-smelling breath are signs of dental issues.

What is feline tooth resorption?

Feline tooth resorption is a dental disease that causes the teeth to reabsorb themselves, which can be very painful.
